Selinsgrove June 18th 2011:
Starting 10th in the feature, we made our way up to 5th. After a crash between Heimbach & Cannon we unfortunately got a tire through the top wing. The crew changed the wing under red...rejoined the field and went from last to 6th!
Below is a video of Nate where you can see his wing getting sheared off. Thanks to the fan who posted this & you can find a lot of other videos on his YouTube page.

Port Royal – Blane Heimbach of Selinsgrove won the
first Port Royal Speedway sprint car feature of his career Saturday
night by claiming the 2011 season opener for the division.
In the companion 358 sprint feature, Pat Cannon wired the field for
the victory from the pole for his second victory in as many days, also a
career first for the Etters driver at Port Royal.
The 410 sprint main got underway with defending event winner Rick Lafferty leading the first lap over Todd Shaffer, who made a big move from the sixth starting spot to blast into second on the first circuit.
Heimbach was running third, where he started, when the races first caution flag unfurled with two away in the 25-lapper.
Under the yellow, Lafferty withdrew from the event, handing the lead to Shaffer, who pieced together an 11th hour deal late in the week to have a car in the field at the opener.
Driving again for Gary and Patty Beam, Shaffer held sway on the restart over Heimbach and seventh starter Daryn Pittman before another crash with three complete brought out the red flag.
The cars of Joey Hershey, Cliff Brian, Bill Jones and John Brennfleck tangled in turn four, without any injuries.
The next seven circuits clicked off nonstop with Heimbach staying within striking distance of Shaffer before driving by with a low pass in the first corner to lead the eighth tour when Shaffer slipped on the high cushion.
Two laps later, Shaffer disintegrated a right rear tire in the first corner and clouted the wall, forcing him from the event.
Stevie Smith, who started 11th, was the man on the move from that point forward, blasting around the outside and moving from fourth into second within two more laps before trying to run down Heimbach.
But even a final caution with five laps to go couldn’t help Smith as Heimbach proved up to the test, pulling away to the somewhat upset victory worth $3,000 aboard the Jeff Creasy owned No. 12.
Smith settled for second followed by 16th starter Mark Smith, Tyler Walker and Lance Dewease.
Sixth through 10th went to Mike Wagner, Mike Erdley, Ryan Taylor, Davey Sammons and Pittman.
Heats went to Lynton Jeffrey and Dewease.
Cannon was never heeded in his run to the checkers in the 20-lap 358 sprint main.
Third starter Nate Hammaker did get by Steve Buckwalter for the second spot before the finish with fourth starter Logan Schuchart ending up third.
Buckwalter ended up fourth with Matt Horst fifth.
Sixth through 10th went to Nate Snyder, Colby Womer, Ted Thomas, Steve Storrie and Dale Hammaker.
Heats went to Cannon and Schuchart.
Port Royal returns on March 26 at 6 PM with another twin bill, featuring the 410 sprints and the first show of the year for the late models. Pit gates open at 3 PM with general admission gates opening at 4 PM.

The Tenth Annual NRG Controls North Open for 358/360 Sprint Cars ~ 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4
Through the generous sponsorship support from NRG Controls North, Inc. in Selinsgrove and in conjunction with Mach I Chassis in Camp Hill, the Tenth Annual National Open for 358/360 sprint cars at Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 4, will be one of the richest-paying 358/360 sprint car races in history. The winner of the 35-lap Open will earn $8,000 out of a purse totaling more than $36,500, a $15,000 increase to the purse that was announced just last weekend.
Mr. Brian Scandle, President, and Mr. Jeff Edmunds, Vice President, of NRG Controls North, made the announcement today in hopes of attracting a stellar field of race teams to the venerable half-mile dirt track to compete in this historic race in the northeastern United States for the 358 and 360 sprint car divisions.
The top five positions combined will pay out more than $22,000 in prize money, with $5,000 to finish second, $3,400 for third, $3,100 for fourth, and $2,550 to finish fifth. The race will pay $1,000 to finish tenth and $500 to start.
The 358/360 Open will be a tribute to the speedway’s late five-time sprint car champion Jim Nace, who was instrumental in helping to establish the 358 sprint car division as the track’s weekly headline open wheel division in 2001. Nace, who campaigned his popular Fast Tees No. 6 as both a driver and car owner in recent years, died last November following a seven-year battle with cancer.
The fast qualifier for the 358/360 Open will receive $100 for the Fast Tees Fast Time Award in Memory of Jim Nace plus a Hoosier racing tire from Miller’s Racing Parts of Mechanicsburg.
Tentatively, the qualifying format for the race will include time trials, heat races, and a B-main; however, the format will ultimately be determined by the number of entries for the race.
Track gates will open at 5 p.m., with qualifying slated to begin at 7 p.m. The rain date, if needed, will be Sunday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. over the Labor Day holiday.

Nate's win on July 3rd!!
|
2nd Win of the Season!!
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Nate Snyder of Halifax made a last-lap, final-turn pass by Pat Cannon of Etters to win the ninth annual Middleswarth Potato Chips Firecracker Special for 358 sprint cars at Selinsgrove Speedway Saturday night.
For Snyder, driving the Pro Lawn/Expert Settlement Services No. 56, the $2,000 victory in the 30-lap race marked his second of the season and the 16th of his career at Selinsgrove. Snyder previously won the Firecracker race as a 40-lap contest in 2005. His win Saturday night also ended the four-race winning streak held by Cannon, who was the night’s fast qualifier for the fourth time this season with a lap of 18.236.On lap three, the No. 3 driven by Pat Cannon rocketed into the third position. Cannon then passed Nornhold for second on the sixth lap. Nate Snyder, who started seventh, advanced to third using the high line of the speedway on the seventh circuit.
By lap eight, the leaders began to encounter slower traffic, creating a close, high-speed chase for the lead between Franek, Cannon, and Snyder. On the 15th circuit, Snyder made a thrilling outside pass by both Cannon and Franek for the lead exiting the second turn. While Snyder set a torrid pace, Cannon kept the new leader in his sites. Racing down the backstretch, Cannon took the lead for first time with an inside pass by Snyder on the 19th circuit.
With five laps remaining, it appeared to be Cannon’s race as he began to distance himself from Snyder in traffic. On the final lap, however, Snyder quickly gained real estate and made a spectacular pass by Cannon racing off turn four for the lead and win by just .06 of a second. Cannon settled for second with Franek, Blane Heimbach, and TJ Stutts rounding out the top
five.

THOUGHTS & PRAYERS WITH JESSE HOCKETT AND FAMILY
“Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”
5/26/2010
Today, Jesse Hockett lost his life due to a tragic electrical accident, while preparing the race trailer for the next five nights of racing.
Jesse was an absolutely amazing racer and he proved that again this past weekend, winning all three nights, but more importantly Jesse was just plain and simple an awesome person. Would help anyone at anytime no matter who or what it was.
He had a heart of gold and showed it every day. He was a person that just made the world a better place.
Jesse was a great friend to everyone he knew, and a great and loving husband to his wife Tina Marie.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and sympathy's go out to his wife, family and many of many friends across the world. R.I.P Rocket, we Love You bud and will see you and Daniel again one day.

Second-place starter Scott Flammer led the first lap of the 358 sprint car feature with fourth-place starter Bob Beidleman in close pursuit. Racing out of turn four on the second circuit, Beidleman made an outside pass by Flammer to take the lead.
On lap four, last week’s winner and 15th-place starter Colby Womer slid sideways in turn four but was able to rejoin the race. When the race resumed, 11th-place starter Nate Snyder horsepowered his way around several cars for a run in the top five. A lap later, Beidleman was leading Flammer, Snyder, polesitter Mike Walter, and fifth-place starter Ryan Kissinger.
By lap 16, Snyder was beginning to reel in Beidleman in traffic. On a lap 21 restart, Snyder attempted a low pass for the lead entering turn one to no avail as Beidleman maintained his momentum around the top of the race track. Misfortune struck Beidleman on the 23 lap when his race car reportedly ran out of fuel and coasted to a stop on the backstretch.
Snyder inherited the lead for the restart with 10th-place starter Pat Cannon in second. Snyder opened up a comfortable lead with two laps remaining and took the checkered flag 1.7 seconds ahead of Cannon, point leader and 12th-place starter TJ Stutts, 20th-place starter Blane
Heimbach, and Walter.
